Parishwide Proposition – 1.06 Mills Renewal – MC – 10 Yrs.
“Shall the Parish of East Baton Rouge, State of Louisiana (the “Parish”) be authorized to renew the levy and collection of a 1.06 mill ad valorem tax (the “Tax”) (an estimated $5,251,300 is reasonably expected to be collected from the levy of the Tax for an entire year), for a period of ten (10) years, beginning with the tax collection for the year 2024, and annually thereafter to and including the year 2033, and shall the proceeds of the Tax be used entirely and exclusively to provide funds to purchase, maintain and operate machinery, facilities and equipment necessary and useful in the eradication, abatement or control of mosquitoes, other arthropods of public health importance and rodents, title to which shall be in the public, and maintaining and providing for adequate administrative and support staff in connection therewith?”
What a YES vote means: The tax to support the Mosquito Abatement and Rodent Control Department is renewed for another 10 years and remains funded.
What a NO vote means: The tax to support the Mosquito Abatement and Rodent Control Department is NOT renewed. The department would be limited or would need to seek other funding sources.
Brownsfield Fire Protection District No. 3 – 10 Mills Renewal – MC – 10 Yrs.
“Shall the Brownsfield Fire Protection District No. 3 of the Parish of East Baton Rouge, State of Louisiana (the “Brownsfield Fire Protection District”), be authorized to renew the levy and collection of an ad valorem tax of ten (10) mills (the “Tax”) (an estimated $330,000 is reasonably expected to be collected from the levy of the Tax for an entire year), in each calendar year on all property subject to taxation in the Brownsfield Fire Protection District, for a period of ten (10) years, commencing in the year 2024 to and including the year 2033, and shall the avails or proceeds of said Tax (after paying the reasonable and necessary expenses of collection and administering the Tax, if any) be used entirely and exclusively for the development, improvement, operation and maintenance of the fire protection facilities of the Brownsfield Fire Protection District, and paying salaries and benefits of fire district personnel, paying the costs of obtaining water for fire protection purposes, and paying the cost of fire hydrant rentals and service, within the Brownsfield Fire Protection District?
What a YES vote means: Renews the Brownsfield Fire Protection District tax for an additional 10 years. This tax will be used to pay for Fire Department salaries and equipment for use in the district.
What a NO vote means: The Brownsfield Fire Protection District tax is NOT renewed.
Central Fire Prot. Dist. No. 4 Prop. No. 1 of 2 – 10.0 Mills Renewal – BOC – 10 Yrs.
“Shall Central Fire Protection District No. 4, Parish of East Baton Rouge, State of Louisiana (“the Fire District”) be authorized to renew the levy and collection of an ad valorem tax of 10.0 mills (the “Tax”) (an estimated $1,300,000 is reasonably expected to be collected from the levy of the Tax for the entire first year, and this amount will increase if the value of property subject to taxation increases) in each calendar year on all property subject to taxation in the Fire District for a period of 10 years, commencing in the year 2025 to and including the year 2034, and shall the avails or proceeds of the Tax be used entirely and exclusively for development, operation and maintenance of the Fire District and paying the costs of obtaining water for fire protection purposes, including charges for fire hydrant rentals and service, within Central Fire Protection District No. 4 of the Parish of East Baton Rouge?”
What a YES vote means: Renews the Central Fire Protection District tax for an additional 10 years. The money collected from this renewal will be used for the District’s operation, maintenance, and equipment.
What a NO vote means: The Central Fire Protection District tax is NOT renewed.
Central Fire Prot. Dist. No. 4 Prop. No. 2 of 2 – 4.25 Mills Renewal – BOC – 10 Yrs.
“Shall Central Fire Protection District No. 4, Parish of East Baton Rouge, State of Louisiana (“the Fire District”) be authorized to renew the levy and collection of an ad valorem tax of 4.25 mills (the “Tax”) (an estimated $560,000 is reasonably expected to be collected from the levy of the Tax for the entire first year, and this amount will increase if the value of property subject to taxation increases) in each calendar year on all property subject to taxation in the Fire District for a period of 10 years, commencing in the year 2025 to and including the year 2034, and shall the avails or proceeds of said Tax be used entirely and exclusively for salaries, retirement, benefits and related expenses for the Central Fire Protection District No. 4 within Central Fire Protection District No. 4 of the Parish of East Baton Rouge?”
What a YES vote means: Renews the Central Fire Protection District tax for an additional 10 years. The money collected from this renewal will be used for the District’s salaries, retirement and benefits.
What a NO vote means: The Central Fire Protection District tax is NOT renewed.
What a NO vote means: The Central Fire Protection District tax is NOT renewed.
